KIDS Awards
KIDS Consortium annually recognizes outstanding service-learning projects and community organizations for their contributions to high-quality K-12 service-learning experiences.
Awards are given in two categories:

Service-Learning Project Awards are given to KIDS model service-learning projects that exhibit academic rigor, civic engagement and overall excellence.

Community Partner Leadership Awards are given to community organizations that demonstrate a commitment to making a positive impact on students and an enthusiasm for service-learning.

Downeast Energy and its employees have a long history of giving to community efforts. The company motto, “Because community is our bottom line,” means that Downeast supports projects that benefit its employees, their families, and their communities. KIDS Consortium has been honored to have Downeast Energy and Building Supply as a major sponsor of our annual Student Summit since 2003.

Healthy Acadia, A Healthy Maine Partnership

Doug Michael, Executive Director, recently accepted the community partner award from KIDS Education Consultant, Tracy Harkins. Healthy Acadia has always made themselves available to Mt. Desert Island schools as resource partners. They have been involved in all farm-to-school projects, bike safety/trails, school garden projects, and healthy eating and nutrition projects. |

Wheelabrator Lisbon Inc.
Lisbon, CT
John Horgan, representative from Wheelabrator, a waste-to-energy plant, traveled to the 2010 "Green" Service-Learning Student Summit and accepted the award. Wheelabrator supports service-learning as a true community partner, both financially supporting efforts such as the Summit, and providing their expertise and time to benefit students at Lisbon Central School. |
