A Special Note for Educational Institutions and Organizations who are Grantees or Sponsors of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS):
If you receive federal funds from CNCS, please be aware that there are restrictions concerning participant involvment in lobbying and other partisan political activities. However, for educational institutions receiving CNCS funds through the Learn and Serve America (LSA) Program, additional guidance from CNCS says that, “participation by service-learning participants in non-partisan voter registration may be appropriately characterized as an educational rather than political activity, particularly if it is part of an educational project focused on civics or government in a democracy. For this reason, LSA grantees are advised that such participation is a permissible service-learning activity. In this area, LSA permits greater flexibility for service-learning programs sponsored by schools than for other types of national and community service programs.” Read more about restrictions for LSA Grantees.
