The Dara FundMini-grant applications for service-learning are available Spring and Fall for projects in the New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont) This initiative, inspired by Dara Kaufman’s life, is meant to encourage young people in New England to take action to make their schools and communities caring, supportive and environmentally sustainable places. The fund will support K-12 service-learning projects that focus on issues that were important to Dara. View examples of eligible project themes. Spring 2008 is CLOSED: Please check back in August 2008 to apply for the Fall application. Application Deadline: to be announced. Who May Apply: K-12 classrooms, after-school programs, or community-based programs that wish to use service-learning in order to solve a problem and improve their community. We will accept proposals from students, teachers, and community organizations. How to Apply: Download and complete application and budget (MS Word) and submit to kap@kidsconsortium.org. Award Notification: We will notify applicants of our funding decisions by e-mail. Documentation with Completion Date: A project completion form (MS Word) must be returned to KIDS Consortium upon completion of project, but no later than June 1, 2008. Examples of service-learning projects: Examples are provided to help potential applicants better understand service-learning and provide inspiration about the problems and needs in your community that students can address.
