Meet Us at a Conference

KIDS Consortium staff will be leading workshops and sharing information in exhibit halls at events in Maine, New England and nationally over the coming months. Check it out and meet us!

April 2, 2008 - Maine Council for the Social Studies Conference, "No Citizen Left Behind Part 2: Teaching Resources for Maine Teachers" Civic Center, Augusta, Maine

Conference is dedicated to providing ongoing professional development for teachers to successfully address the revised Maine Learning Results for Social Studies. KIDS Consortium is offering a morning workshop for educators new to service-learning, and will also be hosting a Roundtable Session in the afternoon to work informally with educators interested in a “mini” consultation about their service-learning questions or projects. At a second Roundtable Session in the afternoon, KIDS staff will share information and resources about the Choices Program.

April 4, 2008 - Maine Environmental Education Association Conference, “Education and the Environment – Building our Common Future" Chewonki Center for Environmental Education, Wiscasset, Maine

Join KIDS staff in a workshop entitled, “Fostering Environmental Stewardship Through Service-Learning and Civic Action,” where you can learn more about the KIDS model of service-learning and young people becoming agents of change as they tackle important environmental issues – from global climate change to sustainable agriculture.

April 9-12, 2008- National Service-Learning Conference Minneapolis, Minnesota

We also encourage you to attend the workshop, Students Have Infiltrated the System! on Saturday, April 12, 10:15, with Lisbon, CT teacher Steve Brown and his students to learn more about the work of one of our network sites to enhance student leadership for service-learning!
