Project Citizen Trainings

Objectives of the Project Citizen Trainings:

  • Students learn to identify, research and solve authentic community problems
  • Students learn how to monitor and influence public policy
  • Promote youth participation in local and state government
  • Integrate public policy instruction with service-learning initiatives
  • Provide a framework for educators to meet the new and revised Social Studies Maine Learning Results (application of social studies processes, knowledge and skills) and/or ideas for using Project Citizen as a performance exhibition

To start the Project Citizen program in your school or community, join us at our NEXT TRAINING at the University of Southern Maine:

The University of Southern Maine has partnered with KIDS to offer a Project Citizen/Service-Learning course this summer!

Educators and students participating in Project Citizen have an opportunity to take part in our annual statewide showcase at the Maine State House. Would you and your students like to participate in the May 15, 2009 Showcase? Sign up for a workshop today!

From the initial training, to ongoing professional development, support, opportunities to publish and showcase projects, you’ve been there to mentor and build!  You’ve driven (inspired) me to be the best teacher I can be and guided me as I’ve grown, as a teacher and a person.
