FREE Service-Learning Awareness Sessions! All sessions begin at 4:30 p.m. No registration required.
At the heart of our communities, are the countless public and non-profit organizations working to address significant local needs and problems. Students have the potential to bring creative ideas, new perspectives and positive energy to a wide range of issues. Examples below highlight partnerships between community organizations and students through a teaching strategy called service-learning.
In addition to direct community impacts, these experiences help students gain the confidence and skills they will need as the next generation of business and civic leaders. Sessions are for educators, community groups, and parents interested in working with students on issues/needs in their communities. This is important now that the newly revised Maine Learning Results call for all students to have civic action or service-learning experiences. Back to Professional Development
